Jaguar E-Type: 50 Years of a Design Icon Coffee Table Book

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was an absolute sensation. Such an iconic machine needed something special to mark its golden jubilee and so on behalf of Jaguar I designed a specially commissioned coffee table book, available in two stunning formats: a premium version and a limited edition leather-bound VIP volume in Connolly leather, who suppled the leather seats in the E-Type in the day.

The Result:

‘E-Type - 50 Years of a Design Icon’ – charted the remarkable story of this revolutionary car through a combination of previously unseen material arising from exhaustive research in the Jaguar Heritage archives and newly commissioned content. What you see here is a small sample of the final 144-page collectors’ edition coffee table book along with the accompanying iPad app. I had a bespoke font made cut to the actual Jaguar logo to keep the design timeless but with a bold typographic approach throughout.
Both books that were published soon sold out and are sought after to this day.

Jaguar E-Type to New XJ

To accompany the anniversary, I art directed a film and stills, celebrating the E-Type with the new Jaguar XJ on the streets of New York. The celebration of 50 years of when the luxury E-Type was launched in the big apple. The film played within a VIP video pack that housed the media booklet, with art directed stills of both cars and model shot over two days.
